Shaping Scandinavian Skincare: A Deep Dive with Jorgobé's CEO Søren Nielsen

Since its rebrand in 2024, the brand has sharpened its focus around one clear mission: creating high-performing formulas that strengthen the skin barrier without overwhelming it. We spoke with CEO and Co-owner Søren Nielsen about Jorgobé’s evolution, its Precision Skin Health philosophy, and why simplicity continues to shape everything the brand does.



Skindays: What was the inspiration behind launching Jorgobé?


Søren Nielsen: Jorgobé was founded in 2010 in Copenhagen by Dan von Obelitz, inspired by the idea of creating skincare that looked as clean and modern as it performed. From the beginning, design played a central role. Each product was made to feel minimal, aesthetic and instantly recognisable, while delivering visible results people could trust. That sense of clarity and design became the foundation of Jorgobé, but over time the vision evolved. When I joined the company, I saw the opportunity to build on that strong foundation and bring a new dimension to the brand.


Today, Jorgobé is guided by our philosophy of Precision Skin Health, skincare created to deliver the highest impact in the most gentle way possible. We combine natural ingredients with proven science to achieve real results, staying true to our belief that balance always outperforms extremes. Every formula is developed with care, integrity and purpose, structured around a simple and effective regimen: three daily essentials and one weekly booster. The Jorgobé you see today was fully relaunched in 2024 after we redefined everything from design and communication to product strategy. It marked the beginning of a new chapter that stays true to our original idea of skincare made simple, effective and honest.

SD: What was the first product you developed, and why?


SN: The first product we created was the Peel Off Mask, a cult favourite that quickly made Jorgobé known for visible, instant results. But as skincare science progressed, we realised there were more effective ways to support the skin. Over time, we stepped away from masks and focused on leave-on treatments that work in harmony with the skin’s natural rhythm, especially overnight.

This shift has shaped who we are today: a brand built on intelligent, precise formulations such as our BHA and AHA Exfoliators, designed to refine and renew the skin gently and consistently. What began with a single mask has evolved into a considered approach to long-term, balanced performance.


SD: Jorgobé defines a simple routine: three daily essentials and one weekly booster. How did you arrive at that structure?

SN: We don’t believe great skin requires a ten step routine. Our philosophy is built on precision: three daily essentials and one weekly booster. It’s exactly what your skin needs, no more and no less. This honest, effective approach delivers results without overwhelming the skin barrier. Simplicity isn’t about doing less for the sake of it. It’s about doing what truly works.

Our system is clear: Cleanse, Treat, Hydrate and Boost. Each step is designed with respect for how the skin naturally functions. Cleanse removes impurities and excess oil without disrupting the microbiome, creating the ideal base for active ingredients to work. Treat delivers targeted care with effective concentrations that remain gentle enough for morning and night. Hydrate locks in moisture with an intelligent moisturiser that adapts to the skin’s needs, eliminating the need for a separate night cream. The weekly Boost provides controlled renewal and gentle stimulation, keeping the skin healthy, even and receptive.

SD: Clean beauty, vegan formulas and sustainable packaging: how do you balance high performance with those commitments?

SN: For us, it starts with integrity. We create high-quality formulations that are safe, effective and responsibly made. We see a beauty industry that constantly pushes for higher and higher concentrations of active ingredients, often far beyond what science supports. Dermatologists today are seeing more irritation and sensitivity caused by the overuse of actives and products, a phenomenon often referred to as skin burnout or barrier dysfunction. It’s a clear sign that skincare has gone too far.

SD: What have been the biggest challenges in differentiating Jorgobé in the crowded skincare market?

SN: The challenge is to cut through the noise without shouting. Skincare today is full of trends, claims and overpromises, but we have chosen another path. We’re not here to compete in who can add the highest percentage of actives or create the next viral promise. We focus on building trust through results, science and balance. It’s about helping your skin perform at its best, not pushing it beyond what it needs.

Everything we do reflects our Scandinavian mindset: minimal, honest and effective. That’s what defines Jorgobé.



SD: Is there one signature product that embodies the brand most deeply?

SN: Our Niacinamide Serum perfectly represents Jorgobé. It’s gentle, effective and universally beneficial. It balances oil production, refines texture and strengthens the skin barrier, delivering both immediate and long-term results. We deliberately formulated it with 5% niacinamide because that’s the concentration proven to deliver real results without disrupting the skin’s natural balance. It’s a great example of our belief that science and moderation create the best skincare, not excess.

SD: What’s one skincare ritual you swear by?

SN: I keep things simple. I start with proper cleansing, followed by serum and hydration. A few times a week, I add an exfoliating step after cleanse to keep the skin smooth and receptive. It’s the Jorgobé regimen I follow: simple, structured and effective. When something works, there’s no need to complicate it.

SD: Looking ahead five years, how do you imagine the brand evolving?

SN: Jorgobé has evolved significantly, but our philosophy remains the same: simplicity, performance and balance. In recent years, we’ve completely renewed our identity, from design to communication, and the response has been incredible. It’s been a true team effort from a small, dedicated group of people who care deeply about what they do.

In the coming years, we’ll continue to grow across Europe and selected international markets while staying true to our Scandinavian roots and our commitment to scientifically documented, barrier-safe skincare.

SD: What’s next for Jorgobé? Any exciting new launches?

SN: Yes, we’re expanding our precision skincare line with new launches in the coming year. As always, our focus is on clean, effective and beautifully simple formulas. You’ll see innovation that continues our mission to protect and support the skin, not to overdo or overwhelm it. That’s what continues to define Jorgobé.
