HOW WE CHOOSE OUR BRANDS

We do not list every brand. We choose them.

Each brand that joins the Skindays curation is assessed against three principles that, in our view, separate a product that genuinely performs from one that simply promises.

Expertise

Every brand we carry is built or formulated by people who truly know skin. That might be a dermatologist-founder, a team of cosmetic chemists with decades of clinical research behind them, or a founding vision so rooted in scientific rigour that it has resulted in proprietary formulations and patented ingredients. We are not interested in the aesthetic of expertise. We are interested in the substance of it, and we will ask the questions necessary to find it.

Raison d'être

The brands we believe in were built to answer something specific. Some were founded in direct response to hormonal acne and the particular demands of combination skin. Others exist to serve mature skin that requires both the gentleness appropriate to sensitivity and the potency required for real results. What unites them is that their founders understood a gap long before they set about filling it, and that original clarity of purpose tends to define everything the brand does afterwards. We look for it deliberately, and we build genuine relationships with the founders who carry it. Understanding why a brand exists, and believing in it, is what allows us to speak about it honestly.

Doing Good

We do not use the word sustainability as shorthand, because it has become too easy to say and too difficult to verify. What we look for instead is transparency: brands that can show us, specifically and honestly, what choices they are making and why. That might look like:

  • Formulations developed with clean, responsibly sourced ingredients
  • Meaningful accountability throughout the supply chain
  • Packaging decisions made with environmental impact in mind
  • Partners chosen for their values, not simply their convenience
  • A genuine commitment to how they treat the people within their business

We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for intention, accountability, and a genuine effort to make considered choices at every stage of the process. When we find brands that can demonstrate that, we feel confident championing them.
